What counts as MLM / Network Marketing

Network marketing and multi-level marketing (MLM) are business models where participants earn income both from selling products or services AND from recruiting others to sell. Well-known examples include Herbalife, Amway, doTERRA, Young Living, Mary Kay, Primerica, ACN, Avon, LuLaRoe, and Tupperware.

MLM businesses are welcome here

MarinesConnect does not prohibit MLM or network marketing businesses. Many of our members run legitimate businesses in this space. You may list your business on your profile, post about it in appropriate channels, and connect with members who are open to these opportunities.

Member preferences are binding

Every MarinesConnect member sets their own MLM preference in their profile settings. The options are: Open to MLM opportunities, or NO MLMs please. These preferences are visible on member profiles. They are not suggestions — they are boundaries.

What is NOT allowed

  • Contacting any member who has set their preference to "NO MLMs please" about an MLM or network marketing opportunity — by DM, MCMail, comment, or any other method.
  • Misrepresenting your business as something other than network marketing.
  • Hijacking posts, threads, or group discussions to pitch your opportunity.
  • Recruiting in groups or channels not designated for business opportunities.

Consequences

Violations of this policy are taken seriously. Depending on severity and history, consequences may include a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from MarinesConnect. Members who feel they have been contacted in violation of this policy should use the Report function or contact moderation at rah@marinesconnect.com.
