Community Guidelines
The standard we hold ourselves to.
1. Be who you say you are.
MarinesConnect is for Marines, Navy Corpsmen, selected Navy veterans, and approved members. Use your real name, accurate profile information, and do not misrepresent your service, business, credentials, or affiliations.
2. Respect the brotherhood.
Talk straight, but don't be a shitbird. No personal attacks, harassment, threats, doxing, bullying, intimidation, or pile-ons.
3. Keep it professional.
This is a career, business, and networking community. Share wins, ask for help, make introductions, post opportunities, and contribute value.
4. No spam. No spray-and-pray selling.
Promote your business where appropriate, but don't blast the feed, DM members cold with copy-paste pitches, or hijack conversations to sell.
5. Give before you ask.
The standard here is simple: help other members, share resources, make introductions, answer questions, and build trust before asking for business.
6. No stolen valor, fake credentials, or exaggerated claims.
Claims about service, awards, business ownership, licenses, certifications, or professional authority must be truthful. Company admin can require service verification if stolen valor is suspected. Failure to verify service can result in expulsion.
7. Keep politics, religion, and culture-war fights out of the main feed.
Members may hold strong views. That's fine. But this community exists for networking, business, careers, and mutual support — not endless arguments.
8. No hate speech or demeaning attacks.
No content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or other protected traits.
9. Protect member privacy.
Do not share screenshots, private messages, personal contact information, client information, or sensitive business details without permission.
10. No illegal, fraudulent, or shady activity.
No scams, fake investment opportunities, unlawful schemes, pirated material, illegal weapons sales, fraudulent documents, or anything that puts members or the organization at risk.
11. Keep conversations relevant.
Post in the right group or channel. Avoid duplicate posts, low-effort content, rage bait, chain posts, and unrelated memes.
12. Disagree like a professional.
Challenge ideas. Don't attack the person. Marines can handle blunt talk, but this isn't a squad bay free-for-all.
13. Respect the mission.
MarinesConnect exists to help members grow their careers, businesses, networks, and opportunities. If your conduct damages that mission, moderators can step in.
Use the Block Button First
Not every disagreement requires moderator intervention. If another member's posts, comments, or messages aren't your style, your first line of defense is the Block button. Blocking someone removes them from your experience without limiting everyone else's. Reserve reports for actual violations of these guidelines, not simply because you disagree with someone's opinions or personality. We're adults. Curate your own experience, extend a little grace, and let moderators focus on the issues that truly threaten the community.
14. Moderators have the final call.
Posts may be removed, comments may be locked, and members may be warned, suspended, or removed. Serious violations can result in immediate removal.
15. Handle problems through the chain.
If you see a problem, report it. Don't start a public firefight. Let moderators handle it.
MLM & Network Marketing
Network marketing businesses — including Herbalife, Amway, doTERRA, Mary Kay, Primerica, ACN, LuLaRoe, Tupperware, and similar companies where income is earned both from selling AND from recruiting others to sell — are welcome on MarinesConnect.
However, every member controls whether they want to be contacted about these opportunities. Contacting a member who has set "NO MLMs please" is a direct violation of our community standards and may result in suspension or permanent removal.
